Opening Day Events Huge Success

The opening events of the 2006 Pacific Invitational got off to a great start Saturday afternoon. PGA Tour professional and former Pacific Tiger Matt Hansen helped the Pacific Golf team conduct a kids clinic with the First Tee of San Joaquin in the morning at Van Buskirk Golf Course. Hansen and the entire Pacific team worked with over 40 kids at the Stockton course, talking about the fundamentals of golf and enjoying the game.

Later that evening the 2006 Pacific Invitational officially got underway at Brookside Country Club. Ameriprise Financial hosted the pairing party for Sunday's College-Am tournament. Head coach Brandon Goethals opened up the evening, introducing coaches for the respective teams and those coaches in turn announced their line-ups for the week. After sponsors and supporters of the tournament were thanked the party of over 100 players, coaches and supporters enjoyed a fabulous dinner prepared by Brookside's own.

Following dinner Hansen was introduced and spoke about his short time on the tour and the experiences he has had this past year. Matt then answered questions from the crowd about the level of play and the differences from when he was a standout at Pacific and his days going head-to-head with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott.

All in all the entire evening was enjoyable for those in attendence as players and coaches look forward to the College-Am tournament tomorrow, starting at noon.
