First it was UC Davis' Tyler Raber posting a tournament leading 64 during the first round of the Pacific Invitational at Brookside Country Club on Monday afternoon. Minutes later the main leaderboard on 18 would report that the Aggies had moved to first place in the team competition as well. Then it was Oregon's Eugene Wong who would check in with the next wave of players with a 64 of his own, and fittingly enough it would move Oregon to a tie on the leaderboard with the Aggies. Two players, two teams, both going neck and neck during the first round of the Pacific Invitational; two rounds to go.

The Aggies and the Ducks both turned in 11-under rounds of 273 at the par-71 Brookside Country Club but the real story of the team was the jam-packed leaderboard; as the seven teams from third to ninth are seperated by little more than a stroke from each other after the first day of play. After the two teams tied for the lead it is host Pacific in third place behind freshman Ben Bauch's 66 in his first Invitational round. Brigham Young and St. Mary's round out the top five after the first day.
