Goethals to Appear on Sports Talk

 

Stockton University of the Pacific golf coach Brandon Goethals and Erin Young, executive director for The First Tee of San Joaquin, will be guests this week on “Sports Talk,” the Comcast/SJTV sports show which airs weekly in the Stockton area.

The Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational, presented by Ron Berberian, Bank of Agriculture & Commerce and Berberian European Motors kicks off Saturday with a clinic at a Van Buskirk Park Course for kids participating in The First Tee of San Joaquin program. An
estimated 75 underprivileged youngsters will participate in this clinic beginning at 1 p.m. and sponsored by The Port of Stockton. Stockton Mayor Ed Chavez also will address the youngsters.

Goethals and Young will join “Sports Talk” host Erik Alves on the program, which will preview the 54-hole tournament. Fourteen of the top NCAA Division I teams, including No. 1-ranked UNC Charlotte, will be competing for the top prize in the Sunday-Wednesday event at Brookside. Country Club. Team competition will be Monday-Wednesday with a daily 8 a.m. tee time.

“Sports Talk” will air Thursday at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Comcast/SJTV Channel 26.
The First Tee of San Joaquin works with youth of San Joaquin County to provide them equipment, facilities, and comprehensive instruction to learn and actively grow with the game of golf.
